Water

Per our annual CDP report, SRG Global has several initiatives that could be highlighted.  Would need to work with Comms (Paige Coates) and legal (Heather Bowman) to validate external messaging.  Also include Emily Barron to offer additional details as needed.

  • At our SRG Global facility in Portageville, the building of a new facility at an investment cost of $80M has resulted in a reduction of energy and water usage.  The wastewater treatment system is still in operation part-time until approval to shut down and proceed with demolishing the building.  Water consumption was 59% less for this same period (2019 vs 2018).
  • A number of SRG Global sites have implemented water recycling opportunities through the reuse of final rinse water in earlier rinse stages.  Implementation at one major manufacturing facility reduced consumption by 144 tons/year and reduced wastewater discharge by 12 tons/year.
  • Eliminating High Bay Splash Out – High bay tanks are a large source of rinse water splash out in our process. The plating team has put effort into retrofitting these tanks with spray bars to fulfil the bar cleansing requirements. The team identified challenge in the high bays after the etching process. The challenge was that spray bars were not cleaning the work bar well enough, causing quality issues. Rather than revert back to high bays and allow the tank to overflow, maintenance members worked together to design, build, and install a collection tray system to air lift the water back into the tank, addressing the quality issues.  The site also challenged the rinse requirements and were able to identify reduction opportunities while not impacting the quality.  Improved leak detection efforts were identified and implemented.
