SRG Global, Inc., FALTEC Co. Ltd. joint venture expands capability with Thai facility
New plant leverages manufacturing efficiencies and expands global product offerings
WARREN, Mich., Sept. 25, 2012 – SRG Global, Inc. (SRG) and FALTEC Co. Ltd. (FALTEC) broke ground on a new facility in Gateway City Industrial Estate in Thailand, approximately 80 miles east of Bangkok. The groundbreaking marks the first green field development project undertaken as part of a global strategic alliance between the two companies announced less than a year ago. SRG President and CEO Kevin Baird and FALTEC President Kazuhiko Toida made the announcement.
SRG Global, one of the leading providers of high value coatings on plastics for the automotive, commercial trucking and household appliance industries, and FALTEC, a global manufacturer and supplier of automotive parts and accessories, formed the alliance in 2011.
The alliance was designed to better serve global customers by shortening product development cycles by harnessing the global design and development capabilities of the two companies, accelerating development in areas of technology and manufacturing best practices and creating manufacturing efficiencies.
“We are very excited about breaking ground on this facility,” said Baird. “It is a significant initial step in what we hope will be many tangible steps that we envisioned at the outset of the alliance. Reaching this point in such a short timeframe will allow us to harness the best of both companies for the benefit of our customers.”
Upon completion, projected for the third quarter of 2013, the facility will feature capabilities for injection molding, Chrome plating, painting, and assembly in the production of radiator grilles, body side moldings, rear garnish, and roof rails.
According to Baird, the site was chosen due to the proximity to several key customers in Thailand, along with favorable economic incentives and conditions.
“The meetings and planning have been completed and now it’s time to put our plan into action,” said Toida. “This forward step will highlight the synergies that we laid out at the start of this venture, and we anticipate success and an expansion of business with our current and new customers.”
Customers benefiting from the facility include Nissan, Ford Motor Co., Honda, Isuzu, and General Motors.
