A journey towards sustainability
We seek to create value for customers and consumers through our products and actions. We constantly improve to achieve environmental excellence and create value for society, knowing that value is not only the results we achieve, but how we achieve those results.
We monitor and strive to act to minimize our operations’ impact on the environment, implementing proactive EH&S programs to improve our sustainability. We are also advancing our data management systems to methodically and systematically monitor progress in our journey towards sustainability.
Customer focus with an eye on product stewardship
SRG Global has two key innovation pillars to address global megatrends specifically focused on sustainability: Vehicle Efficiency and Environmental Health and Safety. One example of Vehicle Efficiency is Integrille™, an innovative active grille technology which helps to improve vehicle fuel efficiency and reduce weight.
Environmental, Health & Safety
Innovation– Creating value for customers and society
As a responsible operator, we are dedicating resources to validate the chemistry and process for the total elimination of hexavalent chrome. We strive to do this through hexavalent-free etch at the front end and tri-chrome decorative finishes at the back end of our plating process.
Water – Our most precious resource
SRG Global strives to be more efficient in its use, treatment, and reuse of water. We are making progress towards our target of reducing water consumption in our facilities by 25% per part.
All of our waste water treatment facilities have been or are in the process of being upgraded to allow for batch discharge; thereby improving treatment efficiency. Our Farmington, Missouri treatment facility is one of three wastewater facilities we have built since 2010. These and other process improvements are reducing overall wastewater effluent concentrations.
Recycling – Doing more with less
Our focus on recycling to improve landfill avoidance and process improvement has resulted in a mindset of responsibility. Our Irapuato, Mexico team recycled building materials from its expansion to build a canteen for a local school we partner with.
Health – Encouraging the SRG Global family towards a positive lifestyle
HealthGuard is the worldwide Guardian Industries program to improve the overall health of our employees and their immediate families. This progressive program is part of our healthcare strategy and proactively watches over the well-being of our team with useful apps, global audits and facility-specific health fairs and initiatives.
Safety
The SRG Global™ team is committed to workplace safety so that employees leave in the condition in which they came, maintaining a safety record among the best in the electroplating and coating industries. Our facilities’ recordable incident rates are in the top quartile for these two areas of manufacturing.
During 2016, our teams achieved an incident rate of 1.15 (a 20% reduction from 2015) and 6 teams achieved a health and safety milestone in looking out for each other. To reach these high standards, SRG Global teams address compliance by improving hazard communication and reducing risks.
